We waste no time in finding a secluded park bench and start inflating the Ref. It's a long flight from London to Chicago, and Ref is feeling a bit creased after his journey! Although we've inflated Ref in many different locations all over the world during the past few years, that initial sense of embarrassment never gets any easier to deal with...
Ref is loving Millennium Park in Chicago. Notice the lack of leaves on the nearby tree, and the frozen expressions on TJ and Rich's faces. It was cold.
The mighty Sears Tower, the worlds tallest building until the Petronas Towers were built in Malaysia. Ref red cards it for being too short.
We see a security guard on a segway, and he follows us with the Ref for some considerable time. Fearing he may be thinking we are a threat to the city's security, we stop and ask him for a photo with the Ref! He agrees!

We find what can only be described as a large shiny peanut in Millennium Park, and so naturally take a picture of Ref standing next to it.
Claire gets some footage of Ref for the road movie of our trip. Large shiny peanut in the background.

We take Ref for a bicycle ride along the shore of Lake Michigan. Here a rather windswept TJ shows Ref the Chicago skyline from a distance.
After we had spent a few days showing Ref the sites of Chicago, we headed east to Ref's favourite American city - New York!

We took Ref up to the top of the Rockefeller Building to show him the view of the city by night. Yes, that is a plastic rat that Claire's friend is holding. They thought it would be funny to take pictures of it in various world locations and email them to their friends. What a stupid idea...
Rich was there, despite it looking like the background was put on afterwards. That kind of business is strictly forbidden on wherestheref.com...
Rich and Ref in Battery Park at the tip of Manhatten Island.
At Battery Park, Rich, Claire and Ref check out the Statue of Liberty (enlarged for your convenience).
