In August 2006, Ref had his own starring role on BBC Radio Wiltshire's mid-morning show. The programme featured a challenge - to see if they could cross a 25 metre expanse of water on a craft not powered by engine, paddle or sail...
A raft was fashioned by attaching various inflatables together, and propulsion ws provided by slowly deflating the inflatable lollipop and banana. The Ref acted as the masthead to this mighty vessel!
The craft comes apart in the water. Ref floats away but proves himself to be quite an effective buoyancy aid.
As is true wherever he goes, Ref makes a lot of friends at the pool.
Ref checks out the BBC radio car...
...and ends up in the driving seat!
Back at the studio, the boss of BBC Radio Wiltshire and Swindon wastes no time in inflating the Ref.
Mr Worgan seems to be quite taken with Ref!...
...and it seems that his job may be under threat!
